Taylor Swift Music: One of the Entertainment Industry’s Top Stars

Almost everyone knows the name Taylor Swift, and with good reason. This talented singer-songwriter and actress has enjoyed immense commercial success in the past 14 years, since she released her debut album in 2006.

Taylor Swift music has evolved considerably from that self-titled album, switching from a country-inspired style to a more poppy sound. She was just 17 years old when her first album hit the charts, and wrote the songs while still in her high school freshman year. As a result, the Taylor Swift songs lyrics of this period focus on young romance and friendships.

This debut album stayed at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart for a jaw-dropping six months, and sold more than seven million units in the United States alone.

How Taylor Swift Music Changed in Her Second Album

Many of the Taylor Swift songs lyrics for her second album, Fearless, were written on the road while she promoted her first album. Much of the country flavour was stripped back for a more pop-oriented sound, and Fearless went on to be a massive hit. It reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart within its first week of release, selling more than half a million copies.

Over time, Fearless sold more than 12 million copies around the world, and included five songs which became hit singles. Love Story, the album’s lead single, sold more than 18 million copies globally and topped charts in Australia, Canada, and the US.

You Belong With Me was another big single from Fearless, and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. It sold more than 7 million copies worldwide.

The success of Fearless and its pop-oriented style paved the way for Taylor Swift music to grow bigger and bigger across her following albums.

How Taylor Swift Music Broke Records with Lover

Lover, Taylor Swift’s seventh studio album, helped her become a record-breaker: she had the highest number of simultaneous entries in the Hot 100 than any other female artist before her. Unsurprisingly, Lover was the top-selling album of 2019 worldwide.

The Taylor Swift songs lyrics present in Lover were celebrated as some of her strongest so far, exploring love at a deeper level than before. The lead single, Me!, had vocals from Brendon Urie, known as the frontman of Panic! at the Disco. Its video achieved more than 65 million views during the first day of its release, breaking Ariana Grande’s previous record (for her song, Thank U, Next).

Taylor Swift also released You Need to Calm Down, which peaked at the second spot on the Hot 100 chart. The single’s video boosted its success, and featured appearances from Ryan Reynolds, Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, and other famous faces.

Lover earned Taylor Swift a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Album of the Year, an ARIA Music Award for Best International Artist, and more.
