The Spinners

The Spinners are an American R&B group from Michigan that formed in 1954. They saw success in the 1960s and 1970s thanks to working with producer Thom Bell. What are some of the Spinners’ most popular songs?

Between 1961 and 1995, the Spinners had 20 top 40 singles in the USA, some of which charted in the UK. Several peaked at number 1 on the R&B Chart, including 1972’s “I’ll Be Around” and “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love?”, 1974’s “Mighty Love”, and 1975’s “Games People Play”.

They also had a number 1 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1974 with “Then Came You” with Dionne Warwick. This was their only number 1 on this chart.

What awards have the Spinners won?

Along with being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Spinners also have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This was awarded in 1976.

Several of the band’s more popular singles have been certified gold. These include 1972’s “I’ll Be Around” and Could It Be I’m Falling in Love?” They also received gold certification for their 1974 single “Then Came You”.
